Our Team

Brian Ward

Owner

Brian grew up in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Page High School in 1991 before spending more than 20 years serving in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in 2013 as a First Sergeant. His time in the Marines shaped his leadership style—direct, accountable, mission-focused, and built on developing people.

While serving in the Marine Corps Reserve, Brian worked as an automotive technician and began building his real estate portfolio. He earned his general contractor’s license and took full ownership of renovating and maintaining his investment properties. In 2018, he founded Ward Construction & Remodeling of NC with a clear vision: lead from the front, build strong client relationships, and bring a high-standard, no-shortcuts approach to every project. Brian’s leadership is rooted in understanding homeowners’ needs, setting a clear plan, and guiding his team and clients from concept to completion with confidence.

Brian and his wife Stephanie share a blended family of four children. He has coached all his kids in baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer—another place where his leadership shows up through mentorship, patience, and building teams that work together. And when the family isn’t on a field or a jobsite, you’ll usually find them on the water—swimming, boating, and fishing.

Jason Marks

Operations Manager

Jason grew up in New Jersey and kicked off his career with a degree in Arts and Business from Concordia College. After school, he spent 10 years in landscape construction, dialing in the kind of detail-obsessed craftsmanship that makes projects actually stand out. He even built a part-time home services business on the side — because doing the bare minimum was never really his lane.

He moved to Kernersville in 2015, worked with a few remodeling crews, and linked up with Brian in 2018. Since then, Jason’s been the guy who takes customer ideas and levels them up — blending quality, creativity, and problem-solving to make sure every project hits that “dang, that’s nice” moment for the client.

At home, Jason and his wife Faith stay busy with their daughter and son. And when he’s off the tools, he’s usually in the woodshop, wrenching on a classic car, or messing with guitars — whether playing them or bringing them back to life.

Van Bateman

Operations Manager

Van is a lifelong Davidson County resident and North Davidson High School graduate with over three decades of experience running his own medical-equipment moving and installation company. That background shaped his leadership style — decisive, efficient, and laser-focused on delivering consistent quality.

Since joining Ward Construction in 2018, Van has become a cornerstone of daily operations. He leads both residential and commercial projects with a systems-first mindset, streamlining workflows, coordinating teams, and holding the bar high on craftsmanship. Whether it’s a kitchen renovation or the conversion of a century-old cotton mill into a 48-unit apartment complex, Van keeps projects moving, organized, and built to spec.

Van and his wife Aimee have a son and daughter. When he's not steering jobs toward the finish line, he’s outdoors — hunting, fishing, and recharging so he can show up sharp for the next challenge.

Nick McKillop

Project Superintendent

Nick grew up in Kernersville, learning hands-on construction and carpentry from his father before spending seven years serving in the United States Air Force. That blend of discipline, problem-solving, and technical know-how shows up in the way he runs projects today.

Since joining Ward Construction in July 2020, Nick has become a go-to leader for the kind of work that demands tight coordination and zero shortcuts. He oversees everything from bathroom renovations to crawlspace encapsulations and structural repairs, ensuring trades stay aligned, timelines stay tight, and the final product reflects the level of craftsmanship Ward Construction is known for.

Nick and his wife, Courtney, have a son and daughter. Outside of work, he’s usually building something, refining a detail, or spending time with family and friends.

Blake Ellis

Project Superintendent

Blake grew up in Alabama and served four years in the United States Navy, where he developed the discipline and leadership skills that define his work today. After his military service, he built a successful career in the furniture industry before joining Ward Construction in April 2021.

As a Project Superintendent, Blake leads with clarity, accountability, and a strong commitment to quality. He’s known for his craftsmanship, problem-solving mindset, and ability to keep teams aligned and moving forward. Blake works closely with clients, subcontractors, and crew members to ensure every project stays on track and exceeds expectations.

Blake and his wife have three children—Hayley, Cameron, and Josiah. Outside of work, he spends his time woodworking and enjoying the outdoors.

Angela Delp

Project Development Manager

Angela is a Kernersville native and East Forsyth alum who took her UNC-Greensboro degree straight into a career built on leadership, problem-solving, and running high-performance teams. She’s managed Enterprise Rent-a-Car branches, led sales and marketing efforts across multiple industries, and spent eight years driving operations and staffing strategy at PeopleReady in Winston-Salem.

She joined Ward Construction almost two years ago and instantly leveled up our internal organization, client communication, and project flow. Angela started in commercial estimating and is now expanding into custom residential work—bringing the same precision, accountability, and quality-first mindset that sets the tone for our team. Her attention to detail is elite, and her commitment to doing the job right is just part of her DNA.

Off the clock, she stays just as active—reading, painting, running with her pup, dancing, and staying sharp with martial arts.
